East Lothian Council – HLF Great Place Scheme Project Officer (PSG Heritage Connections) – Full time (flexible working available) fixed term 2 years

East Lothian Council and the Preston Seton Gosford Area Partnership have secured funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund Great Place Scheme for a ground-breaking project in East Lothian.

The aim of the Great Place Scheme is to put heritage at the heart of the local vision in places across Scotland, making a step change in the contribution of heritage in those areas, and embedding it in the places’ plans for the future. By strengthening the connections between heritage, civic and community organisations, and the private sector, and by involving people, projects will enhance the role that heritage plays in the future of each place participating in the Scheme. In time this will lead to the social and economic benefits that heritage can achieve, including tackling poverty and inequality, improved resilience for local organisations, and inclusive growth in the local economy, amongst others. The HLF refer to this as networked heritage.

We are seeking and experienced, enthusiastic, and creative person with a background in heritage / community heritage to help the community realise their vison of making the most of their local heritage. You will be working closely with local heritage groups and the community planning partnership to help build connections and increase capacity and resilience in the sector in order to reduce local inequalities.
