Hamilton x Scotland Loves Local Market returns to the town centre

The popular Hamilton Market is back this Saturday on Quarry Street from 10am to 4pm.

It will carry the special branding to highlight and support of the first Scotland Loves Local Week, which takes place from Monday August 28th.

The week will shine a spotlight on great businesses in communities across the country – as well as the need for local people to get behind them in order to build a better future for their area.

Malcolm Thomas-Harley, Hamilton Our Town, said: “We’re delighted to be using our regular market to support the Scotland Loves Local campaign, which is a superb showcase of local entrepreneurialism and creative talent.

“We’re blessed with some brilliant businesses locally in Hamilton – and they’ve been there for our community like never before in recent years. It’s vital that we’re now there for them. We can do that by thinking local first and showing them our support.

“It’s great to be able to shine a spotlight on the town centre through our regular events and markets in what is set to be a record-breaking year for our events footfall’.

Businesses and organisations across the region are being encouraged to take part in Scotland Loves Local Week by posting about their great work on social media using the hashtags #ScotandLovesLocal and #ChooseLocal.

Scotland Loves Local – spearheaded by Scotland’s Towns Partnership with the support of the Scottish Government – is the drive to strengthen Scotland’s communities through grassroots action. Born as the nation emerged from the first Covid-19 lockdown, it has evolved into a campaign for longer-term good – encouraging people to make the places they live better by supporting the people and businesses around them.
