Hamilton Our Town, the Business Improvement District for Hamilton, has unveiled the first in the series of videos encouraging residents to shop locally safely and to make use of a new Christmas virtual market.
Check out the video on Facebook here, and read more information provided by the BID below.
Now more than ever it is vital that people shop local. It is also vital that your BID is pushing this message and supporting initiatives that will generate income in the town whether that is in town itself or by using Hamilton’s businesses online platforms … this new campaign forms part of our current initiative to engage with the community and drive a shop local message.
BID manager, Malcolm Thomas-Harley explains the campaign, saying: “Our BID represents more than 300 businesses in Hamilton – and we are proud of our town’s offering. These videos provide a glimpse of what’s available if you shop local alongside the people behind the businesses in the town.” Malcolm adds: “When we were planning them, we were aware that the town and our area might be facing tougher restrictions. Now they are live, we will be promoting them through Facebook and Instagram as well as sharing on other channels we manage all linked to an online Christmas market place. We will push the #ShopLocal message and aim to drive traffic through our local businesses websites and to shop in person where it is safe to do so’’,
The BID has created an online Christmas Market to support levy payers. Malcolm says: “We are very aware that many businesses are severely impacted by the tiered restrictions in place, so we have created the online Christmas Market. We ask that you share the videos and market far and wide to ensure we promoting the town a really positive light alongside encouraging business.
Hamilton’s virtual Christmas Market provides categorised lists – Food & Drink, Gifts and Fashion – with each directory linking with businesses’ contact information. Malcolm adds: “Some businesses remain open ‘in person’, others are trading by phone, some through their own websites and social media pages. The information we have created enables all to find the businesses they want and to use the contact information provided … all allowing people to #ShopLocal and support Hamilton.”
