The Milngavie Gift Card scheme is set to deliver a Christmas Eve jackpot of up to £1000 to one lucky winner.
Between Sunday November 1 and Thursday December 24, anyone who buys a Milngavie Gift Card of at least £10 in value will gain one entry into a prize draw.
For every multiple of £10 gift cards purchased, an extra entry will be gained so that a £20 gift card will give two entries to the draw, while a £100 gift card gains 10 entries.
And the more gift cards that are purchased in total during the festive period, the bigger the prize will be, up to a top pot of £1,000.
The winner will also be given the prize as a Milngavie gift card, which they can spend in their choice of more than 50 local and national businesses.
The Milngavie Gift Card was launched by Milngavie BID in November 2019. The aim is to lock money in the village for the benefit of local retailers and businesses.
The gift cards are a pre-paid MasterCard that can be accepted and processed like any other type of debit or credit card.
It’s hoped the Christmas Eve prize draw will encourage more people to buy gift cards during the festive period.
Graeme Ross, chair of Milngavie BID, said: “As we come to the close of a difficult year for many people and businesses due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it is good to be able to spread a bit of festive cheer with the Christmas Eve prize draw.
“We hope as many people as possible will buy Milngavie Gift card, whether for themselves or as presents to friends, relatives, carers and more.
“The prize draw is a win-win for everyone, including shoppers, retailers and businesses.” Gift cards can be bought at www.MilngavieGiftCard.co.uk or in-store from Reids of Milngavie or Elba Gallery.
Colin Munro, Managing Director of Miconex said:
“This is a fantastic initiative by Milngavie BID designed to lock in money for Milngavie businesses and encourage people to think local. Rather than purchasing a gift from Amazon, if you give someone a Milngavie Gift Card then the recipient can choose to spend it across a fantastic range of shops, cafes, restaurants and salons, and importantly the money stays local.”
